Orders and shipping
When will my order arrive?
It depends on the brand: each one makes and ships its own orders, and every product page says how soon it ships. We email a tracking link as soon as it does. The details for each brand are on our Shipping page and below.
Is shipping free?
On bigger orders, yes. Each brand sets its own free-shipping amount, listed on our Shipping page and below. Your Doggie Bag shows exactly what you’ll pay, and how close you are to free shipping, before you check out.
Where’s my tracking?
We email a tracking link when your order ships. You can also check on your order anytime at Track Order with your order number (it starts with SB-) and the email you ordered with. Still stuck? Contact us.
Why did my order arrive in two boxes?
Items from different brands ship separately, and a bed and its extras can too. You still pay shipping once, at checkout.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Contact us as soon as you can, ideally within 24 hours. Once your order ships, we can’t change or cancel it.
Do you ship outside the US?
No. We ship within the US only: all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Can I send a bed as a gift?
Yes. Enter their address as the shipping address at checkout.
Do I need an account?
No. Checkout is handled securely by Stripe. Just give us your email so we can send your receipt and tracking.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. A gift card goes out by email, works on any bed or extra and never expires. They enter the code at checkout.
How can I pay?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay on supported devices, Link, and Klarna if you’d rather pay over time. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.
Beds
Which bed is right for my dog?
It depends on how they sleep. Donuts, side sleepers, belly-ups, lions, flyers and cuddlers each have a bed shape that suits the way they lie. The bed finder matches the bed and the size, and covers older dogs, dogs who run hot, diggers and more.
What size do I need?
Weight is a good guide, and our size guide lists the weights each size suits. To be sure, measure your dog from nose to the base of the tail while they sleep, and pick a bed at least that long. Between sizes, or a dog who sprawls? Size up.
How do I wash it?
Every bed has a cover you can take off and machine wash. The steps differ a little by brand: they’re in our care guide and on each product page.
Is it chew-proof?
No bed is. For a dog who digs or chews, pick a tougher fabric, like American Dog’s Armor™, and keep an eye on them.
Returns
Can I return a bed?
Returns follow the terms of the brand that made it, listed on our Returns page. Contact us with your order number before you send anything back, and we’ll tell you what happens next.

American Dog

American Dog started in Denver in 2014 with Gracie, a warehouse dog who spent her days talking coworkers into one more game. The team behind it had been sewing tough gear from military-grade fabrics for years, so they started making things for her.
Everything American Dog makes is sewn in the USA. Its beds and pads come in two fabrics: Furvana™, plush minky fleece over a tough nylon base, and Armor™, 1680D ballistic nylon all over.
Shipping
American Dog ships free on orders of $250 or more in the contiguous US. Below that, shipping is shown at checkout.
Alaska and Hawaii cost more to reach, so free shipping doesn't cover them. After you order, we'll email you the extra shipping. Pay it, or cancel for a full refund.
American Dog makes and ships each order from Denver within 5 business days. Smaller orders go by USPS, and larger ones by UPS Ground or FedEx. Most arrive 2 to 4 days after they ship, depending on where they're going. We email your tracking link as soon as it ships.
Everything ships compressed and vacuum-sealed, in the smallest box it fits. Once a bed is out of its seal, give it time to expand before the first nap. When more than one thing fits in a box, they ship together.
American Dog orders ship to all 50 states and Washington, D.C. There's no express shipping on American Dog orders.
Returns
American Dog wants every customer to love what they get, and if you need to return an order, it's happy to help: get in touch and it takes you through the process.
For an order from us, contact us with your order number and we'll take you through it with American Dog. Please don't send anything back before you hear from us.
Care
Unzip the cover and machine wash it, then dry it on low heat. It dries quickly.
Hand wash the inner pads and liners only. They don't go in the washer.
Putting a round bolster bed back together
- Find the three zippers underneath: the two outer ones are for the bolster, and the middle one is for the bed pad.
- Open the two outer zippers and pull the cover open.
- Reach through both openings and pull one end of the bolster through about a third of the way.
- Pull the longer end of the bolster through the opposite opening.
- Tuck the end that's sticking out into its channel, overlapping the first end by about 5 inches.
- Zip the outer zippers closed, then open the middle zipper.
- Push the bed pad into the middle opening, one side and then the other.
- Zip the middle zipper, flip the bed over, and add one dog.
Warranty
American Dog doesn't publish a warranty for its beds and pads.
If something's wrong with yours, contact us with your order number and a photo, and we'll take it up with American Dog.
Military discount
American Dog gives current and former U.S. military, military spouses and dependents, first responders, government employees and teachers up to 20% off on its own website.
Verify with GOVX ID on American Dog's military discount page and you get a single-use code for its checkout, one code a day. The code doesn't work at our checkout, so if you qualify, order from American Dog.
Who makes these beds?
American Dog, a small company in Denver, Colorado. Every bed and pad is sewn in the USA, with up-cycled foam that would otherwise go to a landfill.
What's the difference between Furvana™ and Armor™?
Furvana™ is soft: a curly minky fleece top over a 1680D ballistic nylon bottom with a non-skid strip. Armor™ is tough: 1680D ballistic nylon top and bottom, with hidden zippers and a waterproof cover, made for the heaviest scratchers, diggers and chewers. If your dog sleeps outside or chews whatever they lie on, pick Armor™.
Are they chew-proof?
No bed is, and American Dog doesn't claim otherwise. Armor™ is the toughest choice for diggers and chewers, but keep an eye on a dog who likes to tear things apart.
Are they waterproof?
Armor™ covers are waterproof, which helps with the occasional accident and makes them good for camping. Furvana™ beds have a liner under the cover, but the fleece top isn't waterproof.
Are they good for older dogs?
American Dog designs its beds as orthopedic beds for older dogs and dogs with sore hips. The shredded foam inside shapes itself around the body instead of pushing back. For a dog who struggles to step up, a flat bed is easier to get onto than a bolster bed.
How do I wash one?
Unzip the cover and machine wash it, then dry it on low heat. It dries quickly. Hand wash the inner pads and liners only. To put a round bolster bed back together, see the step-by-step guide under Care above.
Will a cover fit my bed?
American Dog's spare round covers fit its round beds. Pick the same size as your bed (Small 25 in, Medium 32 in, Large 37 in or X-Large 45 in). A cover comes without the pad inside.
